Dennis Wayne Zurmiller

October 22, 1960 — July 27, 2009

Dennis Wayne Zurmiller, age 48, of rural Stover, died Monday night, July 27, 2009, at his stepmother's home in Stover, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 22, 1960, in Versailles, a son of Verlin and Violet Bender Zurmiller, both deceased.
He married Bonnie Twenter and she survives in Stover. On July 1, 1989, Dennis married Rose Jordan at the Legion Memorial Park in Stover, and she survives at their home.
For many years Dennis worked alongside his dad in the family business, the Sinclair Station in Stover. He later was a school bus driver for the Morgan County R-I school district in Stover.
He was also a volunteer for the Stover and Gravois Mills Fire Departments and served as a 1st Responder.
Dennis would do anything for anybody, no matter the time of day or night.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children, Dustin Eugene Henderson of Colorado; Michael Wayne Smith of Gravois Mills; Jeffery Allen Smith of Stover; Joshua Robert Zurmiller, Ashley Dawn Zurmiller and Raven Nicole Zurmiller, all of the home; his stepmother, Linda Zurmiller of Stover; three brothers, Kevin Zurmiller and wife Betty of Ashland, Larry "Butch" Zurmiller and wife Vicki of Stover and Bob Zurmiller of Sikeston; one sister, Kelley Steele and husband Dennis of Sedalia; four stepsisters, Stacy Brenner of Cole Camp; Shelly Hicks of Versailles; Sheila Brown and husband Doug of Sunrise Beach and Sunda Brenner of Jefferson City; sisters-in-law, Linda Roberts Zurmiller, Lynda Zurmiller Bremer and Jeanne Zurmiller; three grandchildren, Corbin Henderson, Christopher "Bubba" Smith and Isaiah Michael Zurmiller; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Garry, Vernon and Rick Zurmiller, one grandson, Damion Hoit, a stepsister, Shawn Brown, nephews, Tim Zurmiller and Royce Brown and a niece, Angela Burnett.
A grave side service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Friday, July 31, at the Stover Cemetery with Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. - 12:20 P.M. Friday, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Dennis Zurmiller memorial fund.
