David N. White

Dave N. White, 91, of Versailles, died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born May 18, 1917, at Akinsville, a son of Dallas and Gertie Akin White, both deceased. On August 1, 1940, at the Versailles United Methodist Church parsonage, he married Louise Hunter. She preceded him in death March 24, 2006.
He was a 1936 graduate of Versailles High School. He was an Army veteran, serving his country during World War II in Italy with the First Division in the Rome-Arno GO 105 WD Po Valley campaign and battle. He received the EAME Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, two Purple Hearts and the Good Conduct Medal.
Dave sold cars at the Chevrolet dealership in Versailles for more than 60 years. He first worked for Hunter-McDonough Chevrolet, then Hunter-Dornan Chevrolet and retired from Jim Dornan Chevrolet.
On December 27, 1936, Dave joined the Versailles United Methodist Church. He served on the church board, as a church trustee and volunteered his services with church maintenance when needed; remaining faithful and active until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
He was active in the American Legion Post 104, the Lions Club, and served on the board of the Mid-Missouri Savings and Loan, all located in Versailles.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Susan White of Versailles; one daughter, Connie Goetze of Versailles; six grandchildren, Ginger Arment and husband Donnie, Cindy Marriott, Cristy Bauer and husband Alan, David White and wife Susan, Missy Wilson and husband Marcus and Mike Goetze; ten great grandchildren, Ryan, Ashley, Amanda, Zach, Cody, A.J., Grant, Natalie, Blaine and Lydia, also other relatives and many friends.
Dave was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Goetze, a sister, Dorthea Mae Wood, a brother-in-law, Joe Wood, his stepmother, Sallie White and a brother, Reed White.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Sunday, February 15, at the Versailles United Methodist Church with Pastor Barry Fielder officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 P.M. Saturday, February 14, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles United Methodist Church.
