David L. Thomas

On September 3, 2021 loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 56.

David was born June 30, 1965 in Sedalia, MO to Lee Otis Thomas and Peggy Ruth Thomas. David was baptized on March 12, 1972. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1983. He contributed to the family by raising turkeys with his father until 1992 when he began his own turkey farm. He married Karen Coons-Thomas on February 27, 1988. They had two children, Brittany Lynne and Lorn David Thomas.

David then entered the field of construction, building homes in his community with Wray Hibdon. He continued in this field until he became a part of the Union Pacific railroad team in 2007. He was respected and admired in this field. David also served on the Fortuna Fire Protection District, Syracuse Station from 1995 to 2007.

David was a kind and loving man that always had a heart for family and friends. David had the ability to build, fix and create anything. He also loved cooking and camping with friends and family. His greatest joy was sharing life with those he loved. He was always available to those in need, his family and friends. David had a wonderful sense of community. He was loved by many.

David was preceded in death by his father, Lee Otis, who passed in 1997 and his mother, Peggy Ruth who passed in 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen Coons-Thomas as well as his two children, Brittany Lynne Doyel and her husband Dustin Doyel, and Lorn David Thomas and his wife Christina Thomas. He also had three beloved grandchildren, Carter Lorn Thomas, Kilynn Sue Doyel and Chase Everette Thomas. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Pardoe and her husband Buddy, and brother Ronald Thomas and his wife Tammy; and several nieces and nephews.

Services to honor David will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Syracuse Baptist Church, with Rev. Vince Stigall officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021, at the church.

For those unable to attend the visitation or service, you may pay your respects and sign the guest book between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, 2021, at the Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton.

Casket bearers will be Lorn Thomas, Dustin Doyel, Matt Coons, Michael Payne, Seth Pardoe, Brad Hagerman and Curt Oldham.

Honorary bearers will be David’s grandchildren.
