Darlene Conner

Darlene Conner, age 80, of Stover, died Friday, April 10, 2009, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born March 3, 1929, in Higbee, Missouri, a daughter of Homer S. and Mary Edith Sumpter Hargis. On February 17, 1954, in Moberly, she was united in marriage to B.J. Conner and he survives at their home.
Darlene was supervisor at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Moberly for several years. After moving to Sedalia, she worked at the Kroger Store and then for the W. T. Grant Store. She also stayed busy raising her boys and helping her husband.
She was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Sedalia and later the Laurie Elks Lodge. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, especially raising flowers.
In 1972, Darlene and B.J. began spending weekends at their home in the Ivy Bend community south of Stover. In 1976 they made Ivy Bend their permanent home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Scott Conner of Stover and Dennis Conner of Jefferson City; one stepson, David Conner of Florida; two sisters, Betty Andrews of Higbee and Veletta Hamm of Moberly, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday, April 16, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 17, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
