Coy "Gene" Marriott

Coy Eugene "Gene" Marriott, age 55 of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at his home.

He was born March 23, 1952, in Cole Camp, a son of Coy and Felma Smith Marriott. On October 9, 1971, in Independence, he married Darlene Adams, and she survives at their home.

He was a 1971 graduate of Stover High School. Gene was a self employed timber man and wood cutter, until his health failed him.

He enjoyed collecting antique toys, playing guitar with his brothers, and being with his family and friends.

Gene was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Felma Marriott of Fortuna; one daughter, Jennifer Riggs and husband Travis of Versailles; two brothers, Lanny Marriott and wife Annette of Fortuna and Kerry Marriott of Clarksburg; two sisters, Debbie Albin and husband Don of Tipton and Cheryl Dorsey and husband Ron of Brumley; one grandson, Hayden Riggs, also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Rhonda Sue Marriott.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2007, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Rev. Dinzel Webb officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Chapel Cemetery southeast of Stover.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
