Christine Newman

Christine Newman, age 89, of Stover passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024.

On December 24, 1934, she arrived as a Christmas present to her parents, Arthur W. and Mary Lou (Roberts) Langford in Cookville, Tennessee.

It was on November 16, 1950, that she married James Newman in Fayetville, NC. James preceded her in death on October 25, 2015.

Christine's favorite pastime was playing BINGO, though she also enjoyed card games and had a fondness for vacationing in Las Vegas. In her younger years, she loved bowling. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Left to carry on her legacy is her son, Jimmy Newman and wife Delilah of Cookville, Tennessee; four daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Paul Luetjen of Cole Camp, Mary and Ralph Davis of Cookville, Tennessee, Rebecca and Donnie Jackson of Baxter, Tennessee, and Terry and Bea Sutton of Stover; a brother, James Qualls and wife Patsy of Crossville, Tennessee; twenty one grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; thirty five great great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Newman; brother, Arthur Langford; sisters, Willine Davis and JoAnn Honeycutt; grandson, Skyler Newman and granddaughter, Amber Newman.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. Burial will be in the Pleasant Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
