Chester Ervin York, age 78, passed away Friday evening, September 14, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri.

Chester was born October 19, 1939 in Douglas County, Missouri to Ervin J. and Verbie L. York. He spent his childhood in Norwood, Missouri and moved to Merriam, Kansas in 1961. While living in Merriam, he was blessed with two sons, Lane and Timothy. He was a fuel foreman with the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. He also spent over 30 years painting anything that needed paint and roofing many buildings and homes.

On September 26, he and his wife Kathy would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary. They were married in 1992 in Leawood, Kansas and made their home there until Chester retired in 2001. Kathy (Schuster) had grown up in Tipton and the couple were able to leave the city life and come back and purchase her parents farm to enjoy their retirement.

Chester had a love of life and demonstrated that in several ways. He loved his German Shepherd dogs, his donkey named Peanut, camping and
especially his 1957 JD 620 antique tractor. He participated in many tractor pulls with his Poppin' Johnny. He loved the outdoors and helping neighboring farmers whenever he could. However, nothing was more important to him than his kids and grandkids that he was always sure to aggravate. He instigated trouble and they still lovingly called him PaPa.

Those preceding Chester in death are his parents; his son Timothy York and he also lost his grandson Dontae Medina.

Surviving Chester E. York are his wife Kathy of the home; son Lane York (Jo) of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter Teresa Kazmier (Scott) of
Chapel Hill, Tennessee and daughter Donna Fox (Charlie Lund) of Tipton, Missouri; his sister Esther Glenn (Nova) of
Cleveland, Missouri; grandchildren Justin York of Merriam, Kansas, Saige Cullen of Shawnee, Kansas, Kaitlin and Megan Ward, both of
Chapel Hill, Tennessee, Jaydon and Jiana Fox, both of Tipton, Missouri; great grandchildren Addison and Jace York, both of Merriam, Kansas.

Funeral services for Chester E. York will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton, Missouri.
Interment will immediately follow at St. Andrew Cemetery, Tipton, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Monday, September
17, 2018 also at the church.
