Charles L. Stahl

Charles Leonard Stahl, 80, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his home.

He was born November 13, 1940 in Sedalia, the only child of Hadley B. and Sarah Octavia Nadine (Ellis) Stahl.

He was a 1958 graduate of Tipton High School.

On June 29, 1963 at First Baptist Church of Syracuse, he was married to Isabella (Nelson). This union was blessed with three children.

Charles was a lifelong farmer, beginning his work with his father at age eight. He raised livestock, row crops, and poultry. He also drove the grader for the county for a time. He was committed to keeping the Sabbath.

Charles was a Christian man and had served as a deacon, trustee, usher, custodian and music director at First Baptist Church of Syracuse. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Otterville. He took up the mission of making stocking caps for babies with the organization Chain of Love and had personally made over 1000 caps.

His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was a kind and sociable man who liked helping others who needed a hand. He was a family man and cared for his family deeply. He loved to have get-togethers.

Even through his health struggles, Charles wasn’t a quitter. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Isabella, of the home; three children, James Stahl (Debbie) of Syracuse, Barbara Stahl of Columbia, TN, and Becky Ricardo of Syracuse; and four grandchildren, Sarah Gilbert, Kimberly Ricardo, James Ricardo and Emily Ricardo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Shawn Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville, with Rev. Russ Slocum officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
