Charles "Chuck" Moesch

October 17, 1932 — August 19, 2019

Charles A. “Chuck” Moesch, age 86, of Versailles, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 19, 2019.

He was born October 17, 1932, in Cecil, Wisconsin, a son of Albert and Julia Hansen Moesch.  On June 3, 1956, at the First Baptist Church in Versailles, Chuck was united in marriage to Cathryn Allen, who survives at their home.

He was a graduate of Bonduel High School in Bonduel, Wisconsin.  Chuck was an Air Force Veteran, serving his country in the Korean War.

Following his honorable discharge in March of 1956, at Whiteman Air Force Base, he made his home in the central Missouri area.

Chuck and Cathy purchased a farm in the Glensted community; where they operated a dairy farm for several years.  Once the farm was paid for, they sold their dairy cattle and Chuck took up carpentry as his new profession.  He was a gifted carpenter and through the years built numerous homes in the Morgan County community.  He later became a rural mail carrier for the Versailles Post office, retiring after several years of employment.

He was an active and faithful member of the Glensted United Methodist Church, serving as chairman of the trustees until recently.  He also served as president of the Glensted Cemetery Board until two weeks ago.

He was an outdoorsman, who looked forward to fishing and turkey hunting.  When he wasn’t working around the farm, you could find him in his chair reading.  He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed a good mystery, history or war book.

Anyone who knew Chuck, knew how much he enjoyed being with his family; whether it was taking his four oldest children squirrel hunting,  spending the afternoon with his two youngest at their pond or lake fishing, or sitting on the porch with Cathy watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren at play; his family meant everything to him.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by five children, Dennis Moesch of Versailles; Sue Kohler and husband Kevin of Jefferson City; Judy Chamberlain of Kansas City; Mike Moesch and wife Lesa of Versailles and Chuck Moesch of Versailles; two brothers, Harold Moesch of Cecil, Wisconsin and Donald Moesch of the state of California; two sisters, Ronda Koeller and Karen Mutter and husband John all of Shawano, Wisconsin; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Adolph Moesch and Julia Mildred (Hansen) Moesch, one son, Glen Moesch, and two sisters, Angie Pecor and Lenore Everhart.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 24, at the Glensted United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 24, at the Glensted United Methodist Church with Rev. Lora Cunningham officiating.  Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Glensted Cemetery. Lunch will follow in the Glensted UMC Fellowship Hall.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Glensted Cemetery or the Glensted United Methodist Church.
