Charles Alfred Drury, III, 90 years of age, of rural Stover, Missouri died on February 9, 2026.
He was born to the late Charles Alfred Drury, II and Louise Viola (Bishop) Drury in Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1935. He grew up farming in central Illinois and graduated from Jerseyville High School in 1953. Charles married Elsie Mae Christen on February 19, 1955, in Jerseyville, IL and shared nearly 71 years of marriage. Charles was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Russell and Sally Jennings. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Drury, and daughters Ellen (Leonard) Conrad and Patricia Drury.
In his early married years, he was a “rolling stone” prior to settling on a farm near Stover in 1969. He began his truck driving career traveling coast-to-coast. After moving to Missouri, he drove for various local companies while raising turkeys, retiring from Stover Milling Co. in 2005.
A man of few words, he might surprise you with a playful streak buried deep beneath his dry sense of humor. A born problem-solver, he could engineer a solution to any mechanical or home-repair problem. He enjoyed working on old tractors (out of necessity!), and laying-in the next year’s-worth of firewood. He was a voracious reader and World War II history buff, spending many hours visiting with veterans about their experiences. Charles took pride in his homegrown tomatoes, sharing them far and wide. He loved his family (and dogs) and was a good neighbor and generous man.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Stover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover Animal Rescue or the Stover Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Bethany, Jody, Michelle, and Kim of Central Missouri Hospice for their caring support.
