Charles Stanton Black

Charles Stanton "Papa Charlie" Black, age 75, of Stover, formerly of Avondale, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening, November 1, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 20, 1933, in Parkville, Missouri, a son of Stanton and Josie Anderson Black. Charlie was united in marriage to Luana Lee Smith on April 7, 1956, and she survives at their home.
He was an Army veteran, serving his country from 1953 until 1955 as a cook for the armed forces.
Charlie retired from Corn Products in Kansas City in 1985.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Marie "Jody" and Ronnie Jones of Stover and Charliene and Jay Stauch of Tonganoxie, Kansas; one granddaughter, Regena Lee Avery and her boyfriend Rickey Weaver of Stover; two grandsons, Cody Lee and Jacob Stanton Stauch of Tonganoxie, Kansas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Pam Black of Hamilton, Missouri and James and Ann Black of Stover; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby and Glen Jones of Avondale and Lois Moore of Oak Grove, Missouri, also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Charles Eugene Avery.
Grave side services, with military funeral honors, will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at the Stover Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Barker officiating. Cody Stauch, Jacob Stauch, J. D. Knight, Ronnie Black, Billy Black and Dave Weaver will serve as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until service time on Tuesday, November 4, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
