Catherine Helen Lutz

Catherine Helen Lutz, 95, of Tipton, Missouri passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Tipton Oak Manor with her family at her side. She was one of 8 children to Louis Andrew and Clara Dueber Bestgen near Bunceton, Missouri.

Catherine attended school at Syracuse before moving to Tipton where she graduated as a member of the Tipton High School Class of 1940. She and Louis (Tubby) Andrew Lutz were married January 16, 1945 and celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary before he passed away February 21, 1976.

She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality. She was an avid bowler until her health no longer permitted but she continued to enjoy gardening, playing cards, and fishing at the lake. Cooking and watching after her grandchildren her joy later in life.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Mary Ann Oligschlaeger; grandson Darren Rackers; daughter-in-law Beverly (nee Moon) Lutz; son-in-law Glenn Rackers; brothers Eugene, Cecil, Bonnie and Martin Bestgen; sisters Virginia Schuster and Eleanor Knipp.

She is survived by daughters Jane Rackers Schnieders and her husband David of Jefferson City, Cecilia Allison and her husband Leslie of Tipton, Rita Lutz-Wampler and her husband Randy of Osage Beach; sons Allan Louis Lutz and his wife Myra of California, MO., Kevin Lutz and his wife Kathleen of Greenville, South Carolina; sister Mary June Hecht of Tipton; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tipton with burial following in St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday evening at Meisenheimer Funeral Home with the Rosary at 4:30.
