Carole Elaine Wendel, 106, of Stover, MO, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at her home.

She was born January 3, 1919, in Council Bluffs, IA, daughter of Jacob and Lois (Price) Matuski. Her mother died when she was young and she was raised by her father and second mother, Hazel Matuski.

On May 11, 1946, she was married to James Ivan Thiles, Sr. who preceded her in death on March 4, 1973. On January 2, 1982, she was married to George Wendel, who preceded her in death on July 12, 2002.

Carole was a 1937 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs. Primarily a homemaker, she held a few jobs over the years, including owning and operating a licensed daycare, Kozy Kare Korner.

She was affiliated with St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie. Her favorite things included knitting, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are two sons, James Thiles, and Steve Thiles (Nancy); two daughters, Charlene Johnson and Colleen Leemkuil; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, David Thiles; three daughters, Judy, Janice, and Pamela; and two brothers, Jake Matuski and Harry Matuski.

Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park in Omaha, NE.

Arrangements are in the care of Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover, MO.
