Brett Mullen

April 24, 1962 — December 26, 2020

Brett Anthony Mullen, 58, resident of Stover, Missouri passed away in his home on December 26, 2020.    Brett was born April 24, 1962 to Joseph and Carrie Ales Mullen. The oldest of four children, Brett and his siblings; Trace, Jared, and Nicole spent their youth in Wisconsin and Minnesota. As a teenager, Brett boxed in the Golden Gloves. In the Summer of 1980 Brett enlisted into the Army Reserves as a Combat Engineer. Prior to completing his initial training, he enlisted into the Navy on Active Duty as a Fire Control Technician. In the Spring of 1982, while attending a Navy School in Dam Neck, Virginia, Brett met and fell in love with Michelle Hamlett, a young Navy Data Processing Technician. On May 22, 1983 Brett and Michelle were married on the white sands of Folly Beach, South Carolina. Brett and Michelle would start their family in November of 1983 in Charleston, South Carolina. Brett continued to serve in the Navy while Michelle left the service to raise their three children, Rachael, Samantha, and Shane. Brett's Navy service consisted of two years of training at Navy Tech Schools, four years and two months sailing around the world on various cruises aboard the U.S.S. MacDonough DDG-39, and four years at AEGIS Combat System Engineering Development Site in Moorestown, New Jersey. Their next journey would take Brett and Michelle to Wisconsin where their dream of owning a family farm became reality. Brett worked for the University of Wisconsin-Superior as the head of the Carpentry Shop during the day and dedicated his evenings and weekends to his family and the Mullen Family Farm & Store. In the Spring of 2003 Brett and the family moved to Missouri, where with his three children he started Mullen Construction, building spec houses and custom family homes.  With their wild gypsy spirits, Brett and Michelle continued to journey around the Midwest in search of their forever home. Brett is survived by his lovely wife of 37 years, Michelle; daughter Rachael, her husband Chris, and grandson Wyatt; daughter Samantha, her husband Kevin, and granddaughter Sophia; and son Shane, grandson Gage, and granddaughter Allison. Brett shared his love of reading, cinematic adventures, carpentry and construction, antique farm equipment, the value of hard work, and the importance of family with all that he encountered.   In keeping with his wishes Brett will be cremated and services will be held at a later date.
