Billie Lea Higinbotham, 85, of Tipton passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her home.
She was born on November 3, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of Norman and Lucille (Reddy) Weisenberger. On December 31, 1955, she married David Lee Higinbotham and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2012.
For 25 years, Billie worked at Genuine Parts Co. (NAPA) in Kansas City, Kansas, where she was known for her dedication and work ethic. Outside of her career, Billie’s life was one of service, creativity, and deep love for family.
A faithful member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton, Billie actively participated in the church community, especially through her passion for sewing and quilting. Her quilts were not only labors of love but also a testament to her talent and devotion.
Billie’s heart was always open to others, and she served as an outstanding foster mother to many children throughout her life. Her home was a place of warmth and stability for those in need.
She was an exceptional baker; known for the many cakes she made for family celebrations and even weddings. Her talents didn’t end in the kitchen—Billie also had a love for ceramics. She operated her own ceramics shop, where she shared her skills by teaching lessons and inspiring others with her beautiful creations.
Above all, Billie cherished time with her family. Her happiest moments were spent with her children and grandchildren, especially during summers at the lake, where countless memories were made.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Higinbotham of Tipton; two sons, Michael Higinbotham and his wife Sheri of Versailles and Robert Higinbotham of Tipton; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to both of her parents and her husband; Billie was preceded in death by one son, David Higinbotham; and one sister, Sharley Bishop.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tipton. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital or American Cancer Society.
