Betty Mollett, age 81, of Versailles passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Lake Regional Hospital.
It was on the 22nd day of January in 1943 when John and Mary (Johnston) Kunkel welcomed their only child, Elizabeth Jean, into their home in Ohio.
She worked for many years at Milburn Golf and Country Club in Kansas City, Kansas.
It was a glorious site to watch Betty in her faith. Her faith was very important to her. This led her to spending a lot of time at her church, St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. She liked to volunteer at all the activities that happened at the church. She also served as a greeter and server.
Betty liked to keep busy. She liked to play bingo, go to the boat to play the slot machines, and go to the Nutrition Site to visit with friends and have lunch. She was an avid Chiefs fan and she liked to watch the Royals too.
She was always ready to take a trip somewhere. Traveling combined her two favorite things, going on a trip and spending time with her family. She loved to travel, but her family was what she enjoyed most, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to carry on her legacy is her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Cassandra Longstreet; her daughter, Becky Kurczewski all of Versailles; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kayla and Alex Blodgett, Kristin and Kyle Jones, Patrick and Karissa Koppi, and Kevin Greathouse; nine great grandchildren, Isabella, Jeremy, Leo, Lydia, Avaeh, Aaron, Madi, Kara, and Trever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Longstreet; her second husband, Richard Mollett; daughter, Shelly Koppi; son-in-law, Keith Kurczewski; two grandchildren, Eric Walsh and Jordan Longstreet.
A funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles with Father John Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Philip Benizi Church or the Nutrition Site in Versailles.
