Betty Jean Baker

April 26, 1935 — March 17, 2020

Betty Jean Baker, age 84, of Tipton, Missouri went to be with her heavenly father peacefully Tuesday evening, March 17, 2020 at Tipton Oak Manor.

Betty was born April 26, 1935 south of Tipton to Glenn Franklin and Goldie Lee (Allee) Blankenship. She was married to Kenneth E. Baker March 15, 1952 and they made their first home in Clarksburg, Missouri. A few years later they moved to Tipton where they raised their two children. Betty continued to make this her home even after losing her husband. Though Betty worked outside the home some, she was predominantly a homemaker, skilled in sewing all types of clothing and crafts. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding her family. She enjoyed bowling and traveling, especially to Branson with her husband and grandkids. She was an avid Cardinals fan and truly enjoyed watching old western movies on television. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Tipton and attended regularly, assisting in many activities at the church until she was physically unable. She truly loved all her family and her great grandchildren were special.

Those preceding Betty J. Baker in death were her parents; her husband in October 2016; her son James Edward Baker who passed away November 1978; brother Kenneth Dean Blankenship and sister-in-law Doilene Blankenship.

Surviving Betty is her daughter Debra Jean Rugen of Tipton; granddaughters Holly Raleigh and husband Jess of Syracuse, Missouri and Amber Rugen of Tipton; great grandchildren Avery, Myah and Paisley West; Nieces and Nephews Peggy Schoen (Bernie), Donnie Blankenship (Sandra), Larry Blankenship (Susie), Ronnie Blankenship (Janette); and her Aunt Ruth Hill and her husband Fred of Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

A Funeral Service for Betty will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2020 at First Baptist Church, Tipton, with burial immediately following at Hickman Cemetery in Clarksburg, Missouri. A visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service also at the church.
