Bettie Lou Monroe, 78, of Stover, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
She was born on July 24, 1947, in Versailles, MO, the only daughter of Clarence Edwin “Pete” and Edna (Kinter) Bowers. On June 17, 1974, at the Methodist Church in Stover she married Terry Lee Monroe who survives of the home.
Bettie devoted her life to caring for others, both in her professional work and in her personal life. She worked faithfully as a Certified Nursing Assistant in local nursing homes and also provided in-home health care to patients, offering compassion, comfort, and a helping hand wherever it was needed.
In her free time, Bettie found joy in simple but meaningful hobbies. She loved reading, crocheting, and working through crossword and word search puzzles. She also enjoyed the challenge of putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Above all, Bettie cherished her role as a grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from caring for her grandchildren and sharing special moments with her family. Whether gathered around the table, visiting, or simply spending quiet time together, family was always the center of her heart.
Survivors include her husband Terry of 51 years; three children, Michelle Swanson (Shane) of Warsaw, Tony Monroe (Luda) of Sedalia, MO, Ricky Monroe (Tabitha) of Stover, MO; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Monroe, Michael Swanson, Maddie Monroe, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Monroe, Katie Monroe, Aaliyah Monroe, Jae Monroe, and Marcus Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Emily Bertrand, Bradley Eber and Cameron Eber; two brothers, Jim Bowers of Stover, and Bob Bowers of Medford, OR.
In addition to both of her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Bowers, and Dean Bowers.
