Beatrice M. Baughman

April 2, 1930 — April 28, 2017

Beatrice M. Baughman, age 87, of Sedalia, formerly of Mora, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover.  She was born on April 2, 1930, in Florence, a daughter of Walter H. and Minnie Marie Williams Merk.  On June 1, 1947, at the Sedalia United Church of Christ, Beatrice was united in marriage to A. Ray Baughman, who preceded her in death September 11, 1993.  She was a 1947 graduate of Stover High School.   Beatrice was a homemaker, busy raising her three children.  She and Ray established Baughman Feed Service in Mora, where she worked alongside her husband and son for many years.  She was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ in Florence, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a youth leader.  She was active in her community as a leader of the local 4-H and served for many years on the Morgan County Republican Committee.  Beatrice enjoyed her retirement and stayed busy as a member of the Quilting Grannies in Florence, serving as a longtime officer in the Jolly Elders in Sedalia and loved attending the weekly Senior Dances.  She was a very loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.  Survivors include three children and their spouses, Carolyn and David Miesner of South Fulton, Tennessee; Duane and Theresa Baughman of Mora and Maureen and Craig Rowland of Stover; one brother, Charles Merk of Sedalia; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Brian Elliott; Matthew and Carrie Miesner, Abigail and Boyce Boese; Patrick and Megan Rowland; Cara and Mike Silvey; Garrin and Chassity Baughman and Rayelyn and B.R. Knipp; eight great grandchildren, Storm, Skyler, Hannah, and Carlee Boese, Gerrit Silvey and Brett, Mia, and Michael Rowland; along with other relatives and friends.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Brandon Rowland and a sister-in-law, Becky Merk.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4 , at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence with Rev. Larry Gallamore officiating.  Interment will be in the St. John UCC Cemetery in Florence.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 , at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Duane Levin officiating.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ or St. John UCC Cemetery.
