Barbara Joan Schnirch

Barbara Joan Schnirch, 69, of Stover, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born July 4, 1954, in Tuscumbia, MO, the third of four children to Calvin and Verna (Steffens) Witte. On November 24, 1971, Barbara was united in marriage to Gary Lee Schnirch at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover, and they were married for almost 50 years before Gary's passing on June 8th, 2021.

Barbara was a 1972 graduate of Morgan County R-I School in Stover. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was baptized on August 1, 1954 and confirmed on April 7, 1968. The confirmation verse was John 10:27-28, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."

Barbara started as a hairdresser and later was employed at Vernon Publishing where she worked for over 40 years, retiring in the fall of 2020. She always enjoyed being with those she loved, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Eric Schnirch of Stover; Jared and Tracy Schnirch of Stover and Carrie and Matt Brown of Effingham, Illinois; her mother, Verna Witte of Stover; two brothers and sister-in-laws Larry and Sue Witte of Stover, Darrel and Nancy Witte of Stover; one sister, Joyce Witte of Stover; fourteen grandchildren, Donovan, Brandon, Carol, Erica, Zach, Micayla, Austina, Justice, Olivia, Johnny, Lori, Palmer, Truman and Watson, 14 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Calvin and her husband, Gary.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Allen Braun officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
