Armilda (Witte) Schroder passed away peacefully February 5, 2026, at the Golden Age Living Center, Stover, MO.
She was born March 23, 1933, at the family farm in the Pyrmont area near Stover, the only child of Odies and Erma (Grupe) Witte.
She was baptized April 16, 1933, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pyrmont, and confirmed March 30, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stover. Her confirmation verse was John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
Armilda attended elementary grades at a one-room school, Bluhm School, south of Florence. She attended 7th & 8th grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. She graduated from Stover High School in 1951.
After graduation she was a seamstress at Primo Pants Factory in Versailles for six years.
On April 20, 1958, she married Kenneth Schroder at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stover. They were blessed with three sons: Dwight, David, and Daniel.
She and Kenneth made their home at Florence, MO where she lived right up until the last few weeks. While Kenneth was busy farming, Armilda was raising chickens, putting out a huge garden, canning, cooking, baking, and always making sure a home cooked meal was ready. She enjoyed her great collection of cookbooks and trying new recipes. She took great joy in gardening right up to the age of 92, carefully selecting the best plants and seeds, working the dirt, getting up at 5 am to beat the heat, canning for hours, and finally enjoying the fruits of her labor. She would always share her tips and tricks of gardening, but just as eagerly listen to others’ tips and recommendations. She treasured her many friendships over the years and loved a good visit. Her witty sense of humor and heartfelt laugh were special.
Kenneth and Armilda instilled in their sons the importance of faith in God, a strong work ethic, humbleness, and how to be a good neighbor. Armilda never wished for fancy things-- she enjoyed her home, her family, and her love for God.
Armilda would always smile whenever her sons walked in. They were her greatest accomplishment. She valued their time together, casual conversations, and their caring manner toward her. She would often say, “I have a wonderful family.” She always greeted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a “hi there” and a huge smile. She was a wonderful mother-in-law, always including her daughters-in-law in conversation, gifting them with cooking and baking supplies or recipes, helping watch their children, and many other countless acts of kindness shown to them over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth.
She is survived by her three sons: Dwight (Marlene), David (Kathy), and Daniel (Jenelle); six grandchildren: Andrew (Alyssa) Schroder, Samuel (Samantha) Schroder, Amy (Dakota) Kroeschen, Ashley (Matthew) Cihy, Jessica (Robert) Bickel, and Justin Schroder; eight great- grandchildren; and one great-grandson due any day.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
