Ardella Sousley passed away Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Golden Age Living Center in her home town of Stover.
Ardella Mae Meyer was born on December 14, 1930. An only child, daughter of Edward Meyer and Mabel Hagedorn Meyer. She was baptized on Jan 4, 1931 at St. Paul's Lutheran church by Rev HM Schriener. Ardella was confirmed in the same church on April 18, 1943. Her confirmation bible verse stated "Be thou faithful until death and I will give you thee the crown of life."
She married Melvin Sousley on August 20,1949. Together they had three sons, the first son Marvin died of birthing complications within a couple of days of birth. Ardella has surviving sons Dennis and Curtis. Both attended St Paul's Lutheran elementary school and were confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Together the family operated the DX gas station on highway 52 for many years. Ardella could be seen most nights filling the soda pop machine before closing.
Following her marriage to Melvin, Ardella worked for 15 years at the Smithton Quilting Factory in Stover. She remained a faithful member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in attendance and organizations within the church until her health required her to become a resident of the Golden Age Living Center. She is survived by two sons, Dennis and his wife Kelli and Curtis and his partner Toni. She is survived by three grandchildren of Curtis; Christina, Shaun and Curtis (affectionately called little Curt but he is not so little) and two step grandchildren of Dennis, Melanie and Christa. Ardella has four great grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlyn, Emery and Iyla. She is also survived by one first cousin Karen McCutcheon and her husband Kenneth.
Ardella was steadfast in her faith until her time of death and is now pain free in God's arms. A Memorial Service is scheduled at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover, Missouri at 1:00 p.m. on December 29 , 2024 with interment to follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
