Anna Lea Gross

Anna Lea Gross, age 96, formerly of Clarksburg, Missouri, passed away late Saturday night, December 29, 2018 in California, Missouri.

One of five children, Anna was born September 30, 1922 to William E. and Viola Powell in Puckett, Mississippi. She grew up in Mississippi and after graduation from high school, attended Jackson Business School. During WWII, Anna met Dalton M. Gross, a young man from Missouri who was stationed in Mississippi. They were married in 1946 and Anna moved to Missouri with her new husband where she spent the rest of her life.

Anna and Dalton lived in Clarksburg for 36 years together until his passing on April 23, 1981. During those years they were blessed with four sons. Anna worked for 33 years for Stride-rite Shoe Co. in Tipton. After retirement, she continued living in Clarksburg where she nurtured her vegetable and flower gardens and cooked wonderful meals for her family. She was very involved in helping raise her grandchildren. Anna was a longtime member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and exhibited all the traits of a good, kind and loving Christian woman to everyone she knew.

Preceding Anna L. Gross in death were her parents; husband; one brother and three sister who were all of Mississippi.

Those surviving Anna are her sons Bill Gross and his wife Lynn, Donald Gross and his wife Helen, all of Clarksburg, James Gross and his wife Leta of California, Gary Gross and his wife Cynthia of Syracuse; sister-in-law Lucy Mosley of California; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Anna Lea Gross will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Clarksburg with burial immediately following in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 P.M., Tuesday afternoon, January 1, 2019 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Clarksburg, Missouri.
