Amelia Ann Grotzinger

Amelia Ann Grotzinger, 81, of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Boone Hospital with her family at her side. Amelia was one of 8 children born to Francis and Bernadine Eck in St. Louis, Missouri.

Amelia was a member of the first graduating class of Lindbergh High School. She and Paul Grotzinger were married April 7, 1956 and they moved to Pilot Grove in 1964 where they raised their family. Amelia worked at several jobs in Boonville before she began working at the University of Missouri where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of the Altar Sodality of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Nimble Thimble Quilt Club, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was involved with the Pilot Grove 4-H Club teaching cake decorating but her favorite pastime was making quilts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; son Robert Eugene Grotzinger; brothers Leonard, Alfred, and Vincent Eck; sisters Helen Streck, Lenore Nichols, Theresa Modglin.

Amelia is survived by sons John Edward Grotzinger and his wife Melony of Rocheport and William Francis Grotzinger of Pilot Grove; daughter Paula Ann Vandelicht and her husband Kevin of Ashland; grandchildren Joshua Grotzinger and his wife Charity, Tabitha Ballew and her husband Cody, Kendra Temple and her husband Tim, Breanna Grotzinger, Samantha Grotzinger, Nathan and Caleb Vandelicht; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church at Clear Creek with burial immediately following in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove with Rosary at 4:30.
