Amandus John (Pappy) Schoen

Amandus (Pappy) John Schoen, 95, of Tipton, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Tipton Oak Manor. He was one of 5 children born to Rudolph and Mary Gerke Schoen in Clear Creek, Missouri.

Pappy was a "jack of all trades and master of them all." He was a farmer for all his life also working off the farm in various capacities as well. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Phillippines and received 2 Bronze Stars. He married Ethel Kraus on February 11, 1947 and they recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.

He enjoyed an active social life being a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moose lodge in Sedalia, the American Legion of Otterville and Tipton, the 40 & 8 Club and served in the honor guard for many veterans. He liked to fish, play checkers, go to dances, and he repaired sewing machines for many.

Pappy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Carol Stemburger; and brother Joe Schoen.

He is survived by his wife Ethel; sons Dan Schoen and his wife Gladys of Syracuse, Robert Schoen and his wife Sandy of Otterville, Linus Schoen and his wife Sherry of California, Bernie Schoen and his wife Peggy of Otterville; daughters Janette Blankenship and her husband Ronnie of Independence, Missouri, Frances Ditto and her husband Joe of Sedalia; sisters Annalean Romig of Syracuse, and Levina Reuter of Pilot Grove; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial for Amandus (Pappy) Schoen will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Tipton with burial immediately following in the St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30-5 PM Sunday afternoon at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton with Rosary beginning at 2 PM.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrews Catholic School in Tipton.
