Alice Virginia Thixton

Alice Virginia Thixton, age 94 of Tipton, Missouri passed away early Thursday, April 12, 2018 at her residence with good friends at her side.

Alice was born September 23, 1923 to John William and Grace Jane (Fletcher) Westing in Centertown, Missouri. She graduated from high school in California, Missouri in 1941 at the age of 17. Alice married George Thixton December 14, 1946 in Tipton, Missouri and they continued living in Tipton together until his death September 6, 1979. She worked for over 50 years at Biltwell Pants Factory starting with simple sewing and eventually becoming supervising floor lady at her retirement in 1990. Alice also threw the Sedalia Democrat newspaper in Tipton for 14 years.

Alice was an excellent seamstress and also crocheted beautifully, making crocheted roses that looked almost real. She has been a member of the Fortuna Baptist Church for years.

Preceding Alice in death were her parents; her husband George; an infant daughter, Pamela Sue on January 19, 1949; her sister Juanita Wilson.

Surviving Alice are her sisters Betty Selsor of Independence, Missouri and Faye Yust of Miami, Oklahoma; her niece Shirley Krueger of Colorado Springs, Colorado; many more family and friends.

A funeral service for Alice Virginia Thixton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, Missouri with burial immediately following in the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton. A visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service, also at the funeral home.
