Alfred Otto Twenter, 101, a lifelong resident of the Clear Creek community, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove.
He was born in Clear Creek, Missouri, one of ten children to John and Mary Magdalene (Gramlich) Twenter. Growing up in a large family, Alfred learned early the values of dedication, perseverance, and the importance of community-values that would guide him throughout his life.
On September 8, 1973, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clear Creek, Alfred was united in marriage to Violet Elnora Bradley. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1995.
Alfred spent his working days as a farmer, a vocation he embraced with pride and commitment. He understood the land, respected its rhythms, and found fulfillment in the honest labor it required. Farming was more than a livelihood to Alfred-it was a way of life that reflected his character.
A man of deep faith, Alfred was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He gave generously of his time and energy to his church and community, serving for over 50 years as a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Association. He was instrumental in helping organize the association and remained dedicated to its mission throughout his life. Alfred also faithfully served his community as a member of the Pilot Grove Senior Housing Board for many years.
In addition to his service, Alfred enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was a longtime member of the Pilot Grove Range Riders, where he combined his love of horses with fellowship and friendly competition. He participated in numerous horse shows across Missouri, earning many awards along the way. Alfred also found joy in fishing and was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, rarely missing a chance to follow the team.
Alfred will be remembered as a hardworking man, a faithful servant to his church and community, and someone who found happiness in the simple, meaningful moments of life. His legacy of dedication, kindness, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and his little buddy Jesse.
In addition to both of his parents and his wife Alfred was preceded in death by nine siblings, Frances, Andy, Sister Erma, Emma, Carl, Urban, Martha, William and Alice Marie.
Prayers of the Rosary will be recited at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Clear Creek. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery or the Pilot Grove Community Building. Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
