Roy Comstock, age 78, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.
It was on the 6th day of January in 1945 when Garth Duesse and Rose M. (Tabor) Comstock welcomed their son, Garth Leroy, into their home in Illinois.
On September 4, 1966, Roy was united in marriage to Ruth Stepp in Versailles.
He worked as a mechanic for Co-Mo Electric Company for many years.
Roy was happiest when he was at a racetrack soaking in all the fuel and exhaust fumes from the cars. His favorite were the 360 sprint cars. In his younger years he had the opportunity to be a driver and worked on them. As he got older, he transitioned into watching the races as well as enjoying just being at the track.
Left to carry on his legacy is his wife of 57 years, Ruth; his two sons, Tony Comstock of Versailles and John Comstock and wife Alette of Belton; two granddaughters, Grace and Lucy Comstock; three brothers, Tim Comstock, Andrew Comstock, and Danny Comstock; four sisters, Bonnie Yoder, Reba Comstock, Beverly Tomblinson, and Becky O'Brien; along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Comstock and sister, Wanda DeMint.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home. The burial will be in the Ritchie Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Ritchie Church.
